Joanna A. Gail, Student Development

Joanna joined the AfterSport Group in 2009 and is responsible for overseeing student development.  Joanna brings collegiate life skills experience from the University of Oregon, the University of Washington and Stanford University, and will play a key role in assuring AfterSport Group programming effectively works in conjunction with programming already in place at partner universities.

Joanna currently works for CBS College Sports Properties as a Product Marketing Coordinator. In this role she assists with all product marketing, positioning, branding and new business development for the CBSsports.com line of interactive products. This includes subscription-based All-Access video platform, iPhone/Blackberry mobile initiatives, downloadable toolbars, and other revenue generating partnerships with third party companies. In addition, acting as the primary contact for FANBase e-marketing for all 170 athletic partners under the CBSsports.com umbrella. Responsible for maintaining the CBSsports.com business-to-business marketing site and working directly with CBS Interactive University Relations team to develop client relations. Before taking on her position as Product Marketing Coordinator, Joanna served as an Editor for the company where she helped manage multimedia and written content on the athletic websites for Big 12 and Big East schools.

Prior to joining CBS Sports Properties Joanna held several positions within athletics including-- a stint working for Stanford Athletics assisting in marketing, media relations, development and ticketing.  Prior to that, Joanna served as the athlete marketing and promotions associate with the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF), a non-profit organization in New York City.  During her time with the WSF she handled all elite, world-class champion, and Olympic athlete-related activities; including researching, recruiting and cultivating athletes to become advocates of the Foundation as well as coordinating athlete attendance to events and updating athlete biographies.

Before working in NYC, Joanna worked in marketing for the Seattle Sports Commission while earning her Master’s Degree in Intercollegiate Athletic leadership from the University of Washington. In addition to her marketing duties with the Seattle Sports Commission, another non-profit, Joanna also tutored, taught weight training classes, wrote for the Career Center and volunteered with Washington’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (W.S.A.A.C.).

Joanna graduated with a degree in Journalism and Communications from the University of Oregon, where she was a member of the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington.
