L. Sherard Clinkscales
Co-founder
Sherard is Co-founder of the AfterSport Group and his expertise in student development has been vital to the direction and growth of the company, as he has worked with young men and women at the high school, collegiate and professional levels. Sherard has presented at several career events and provided individual consultations to participants seeking specialized guidance.
Most recently Sherard was the University of Notre Dame’s pitching coach and he assisted the head coach and assistant coach/recruiting coordinator with Notre Dame’s baseball recruiting efforts. Additionally, Sherard oversaw the baseball program's student welfare operation, encompassing community service activities and academic progress. Prior to joining Notre Dame, Sherard spent several years in professional baseball working in operations and as a scout for the Atlanta Braves and for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In these capacities Sherard oversaw a variety of functions including contract negotiations, budgeting, the signing of players, and player evaluations. Prior to working in professional baseball, Sherard worked at Butler University as Assistant for Student-Athlete Academic Support/Event Management. In this capacity Sherard was responsible for Life Skills and Academic Support for men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, and tennis, as well as women’s volleyball. Sherard was in charge of Event Management for these sports as well. Prior to working for Butler University, Sherard worked in sales for Pitney Bowes. Prior to working for Pitney Bowes, Sherard played professional baseball for the Kansas City Royals and Chicago Cubs organizations.

Scott E. McGowan
Co-founder, Chief Executive Officer
Scott has served as AfterSport Group Chief Executive Officer since June of 2007. Under his leadership, the company has seen a significant growth in the number of institutions as well as students that have been served by the company. Scott has implemented the AfterSport Group Career Transition program on several campuses across the country. Additionally, Scott has presented at several career events including NCAA Career Connections (2007, 2008) and NCAA Conference Intern Seminar, as well as other conference events sponsored by the Atlantic Coast Conference, Horizon League, Mid-American Conference, and Mid-Continent Conference.
Scott has also taken his expertise to the class room as he has been invited to be a guest speaker for classes at the University of Wisconsin.
Prior to joining the AfterSport Group, Scott served as National Manager of Business Development for American Express and was responsible for building American Express’ presence with companies generating between $100 million and $1billion in revenues in Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. Prior to that, Scott was a National Sales Manager for Federal Express responsible for building the company’s business in Indiana. Prior to beginning a corporate career, Scott was a free agent for the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals.
Scott graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He is currently is a member of the Board of Directors for the Indiana University “I Association” (Alumni Association).
Gregory B. Hobbs
Chief Operating Officer
Gregory joined the AfterSport in 2006 and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer, where he oversees the finance, strategy and administrative functions of the company. Gregory has been instrumental in the design and implementation of AfterSport Group programming for its clients.
Prior to joining the AfterSport Group, Gregory spent eight years working as a health care equity analyst for Citigroup Asset Management in San Francisco (Clear Bridge Advisors) and one year working for NMH Advisors (a hedge fund) in the same capacity. As an equity analyst he was responsible for analyzing healthcare companies and making investment recommendations based on his research. During his tenure with Citigroup, Gregory was part of a team that saw its assets under management grow from $5 billion to over $20 billion. Prior to working as an equity analyst, Gregory worked in Human Resources for Smith Barney where he supported Investment Banking, Equity Research and Asset Management in a variety of capacities, including as a generalist and a compensation analyst.
Outside of the AfterSport Group, Gregory serves as Program Director for the Wall Street Wizards (http://www.wallstreetwizards.org/) in New York, a non-profit organization which provides financial literacy programs to urban youth.
Gregory received his bachelor’s degree in Business from Indiana University and received an MBA in Finance from the University of San Francisco, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was recognized as a Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary.
